APR (Adoration to the Radical Performance) // 8th-9th August // Online Event
APR is a performance about the ballroom culture, about the ways it was born and had been functiong from the get-go as a resistance movement.
It`s focus is on the dichotomy appreciation – cultural appropriation, guiding the audience on a self-questioning exercise. The show itself was put through the same self-questioning exercise, bringing into discussion the white context within which a performance that pays tribute to the BIPOC LGBTQ+ communities is created.
It contextualizes the transgen and queer experiences from Romania and goes to show the role that the night and dance play in creating the feeling of belonging, of family, of home.
It may at times break your heart to pieces, but then coerce you to pick up the pieces by yourself, dancingly.

The event is organized with the support of ACCEPT, within Bucharest Pride (6-14.08.2021). This year’s theme is ‘Come out. Speak up.’ In 2021 we`re celebrating 20 years since the repeal of the Article 200 of the Penal Code, which criminalized homosexuality, and together we take a look at the evolution of our rights and communities over the last 20 years, trying to build together an inclusive and secure future for everyone. We are together again, building safe spaces in which our identity is being celebrated.
